IADC WELLCAP

The Wellcap Program identifies the knowledge and skills essential to Workover, Completion, Coiled Tubing, Snubbing and Wireline instruction for Well Operations personnel. We are approved for delivering Workover/Completion courses with Coiled Tubing and Wireline supplements, Fundamental and Supervisor level in following languages, English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Courses are designed to provide position- or role-specific training and assessment to assure individuals have the competence to fulfill their well control responsibilities in the oil and gas industry.

HPHT Planning and Well Control

In our pursuit to discover oil and gas in ever deeper horizons, wells are often drilled in what is known as a High Pressure High Temperature [HPHT] environment. To be considered a HPHT well, the downhole conditions will have pressures in excess of 10,000 psi [69 MPa] and 300 deg F [150 deg C].

To drill these usually expensive wells successfully, the planning and execution phase has to be of an exceptionally high standard. Therefore, both operator and drilling/service contractor staff must be seamlessly aligned and work as a coherent team to reach and then harness the well objectives.

Stuck Pipe Prevention

Stuck Pipe is, and historically has been, a major headache for the Oil & Gas Industry. Many wells have become more challenging in terms of well trajectories, hole size [smaller] and because we are more focussed on pushing the ‘drilling limit’.

On the other hand, rigs are now equiped with better mud systems, downhole sensors and rotary steerable systems, to name a few, and many operators pay more emphasis on following the well in real time as well as having effective office to rig communication, no matter how remote the drilling location is.

Introduction to Well Engineer

Ever since the first production in the 4th century AD, of brine and gas through bamboo-drilled wells in China, ultimately resulting in the first commercial oil wells in Canada and USA in the 19th century, people have been fascinated by the drilling industry.

To be able to drill a hole in the ground, through known and unknown geology and all of this within a hostile environment of high pressures and temperatures, speaks to the imagination of many. To drill oil and gas wells successfully, the rigs we drill with have to be equipped with ‘state-of-the-art’ technology. The planning and execution phase has to be of a high standard too, not in the least to meet today’s stringent regulatory health, safety and environmental standards.
