IWCF DRILLING WELL CONTROL – LEVEL 2 (INTRODUCTORY)

DESIGNED FOR:
The Level 2 course is designed for delegates working in roles which may directly contribute to the creation, detection or control of well influx and Operation Team personnel - well-site-based position whose action or inaction could directly influence well control assurance.

OVERVIEW:
The aim of this course is to provide a basic understanding of drilling a well and the fundamental principles involved in maintaining well control.

Level 2 is available for Drilling and Wells Personnel Basic Training

COURSE OUTLINE

 
   Overview.
   Introduction to well control.
   Barrier concept. Risk management.
   Causes of kicks.
   Kick warning signs and indicators.
   Circulating systems.
   Fracture pressure and maximum surface pressure.
   Influx characteristics and behaviour.
   Shut in procedures.
   Well control methods.
   Overview.

 
   Blow Out Preventers.
   Associated well control equipment.
   Choke manifold and chokes.  Auxiliary equipment.
   Barriers.
   Testing.
   BOP control systems.

COURSE DELIVERY:
The course is delivered using presentations supported by animations and videos and supplemented by a workbook.

IWCF TEST:
Two written tests, one in Principle & Procedures and one in Equipment and one practical simulator test.

Successful completion of the course and examination will result in IWCF Level 2 certification which is valid for five years.
